Her no-nonsense demeanor in place, she excused herself saying, “I’m surely bothering all of you Sharon. It’s high time that I left. I’ll just shower, get ready and pack up. I’ll get the first available flight back to Mumbai.”
She could perceptibly see that Sharon heaved a slight sigh of relief and even smiled happily. As if a load had been lifted off her back!
“Sharon, thanks for everything. I’m sorry if I have knowingly or unknowingly hurt you in any way,” she said, taking Sharon’s clammy palms into her own. Then she patted her tummy and said, “Let me know when junior Sharon or Ravi arrives!”
Both friends burst out laughing, all their differences and misgivings resolved.
At that moment, Aunty came into the room with steaming mugs of coffee and biscuits on a tray, for both of them. As they munched on the Chocó-chip biscuits and sipped the aromatic coffee from their mugs, they laughed and chatted like old times.
“By the way, where’s Ravi? I must take his leave too and thank him for being such a gracious host!” Yogita said casually. She felt cold and indifferent now. No tingling in her veins, no uneasiness whatsoever, while taking his name! Had she got over him in just one night? Unbelievable!
