“Oh Sharon,
so sweet of you! This was the snap that we had clicked on Miramar beach, while
on our college trip to Goa, ten years ago. You have carefully preserved it,
just like me. Thanks dear!”
Sharon glanced at the frame. Two
carefree youngsters with their multi-colored tank tops and dark jeans rolled up
to their knees; were frolicking in the milky waves that loomed alarmingly
behind them, in gay abandon. Both were footloose and fancy free! She felt a
wave of nostalgia engulf her as she rushed towards Yogita and embraced her
tightly, her eyes moist with affection.
“I miss those days, dear! Wish you would have
been staying somewhere closer, so that we could have met more often,” she said
softly.
“Yes Sharon. I wish the same, but we have to
take life in our stride. I’m sure you are very happy here! I hope that I am not
a kabab mein haddi now! How’s married
life?”
She pinched Sharon’s waist and she squealed
loudly. “Ouch! You deserve a spanking!”
“For being a kabab mein haddi?” teased Yogita.
“For being a mean friend! Why didn’t
you come for my wedding? Katti!”
